It has always been said that baseball is a game of inches, and it is these inches around the plate that are important to understand for every baseball player. The Perfect Strike Training Plate is a dynamic training aid to emphasizes what the best coaches in the world are teaching their pitchers and catchers: working the outside and inside corners. The Plate is very lightweight, durable and portable allowing for indoor or outdoor use. Multiple Uses For Pitchers Learn the importance of pitch location and proper repetitions in practice to develop pitch command. The catcher can set up in the proper position but the pitcher has no knowledge or training in pitch command. It is very important for the pitcher and catcher to understand each others goals. Once both catcher and pitcher are on the same page, there will be more success. The Plate's white inside and outside visual lanes are 6” wide to serve as a visual target for the pitcher, catchers and hitters to see. The 6” white visual lanes and white part of the Plate cover 3" of the traditional home plate and 3” off of the plate (the outer limits of the strike zone). Since a baseball is close to 3" any part of the ball that touches the edge of the 17" wide plate is considered a strike. This Plate will effectively teach pitchers, catchers and hitters the 23" wide target - the entire strike zone - rather than just the 17" width of home plate.
